S. Roeder was a German manufacturer of steel dip pen nibs, founded by Samuel Roeder in Berlin in 1841. The company became an important name in Germany’s writing industry, supplying nibs for handwriting, business correspondence, drawing and lettering. Its varied range included pointed nibs, rounded writing points and oblique lettering nibs. Surviving Roeder nibs and packaging preserve examples of Berlin’s traditional pen-making craftsmanship.
The Roeder Zick-Zack Breit is a vintage German steel writing nib with a rounded writing point. The broad version produces an approximate line width of 0.8–1.0 mm.
