Geo. W. Hughes was an English manufacturer of steel dip pen nibs based in Birmingham. The firm operated from St. Paul’s Square and later from premises on Legge Lane, known as St. Paul’s Pen Works. Its range included nibs for everyday handwriting, school use and office work. A distinctive fox carrying a goose appeared on the company’s illustrated packaging.

The Geo. W. Hughes Plexograph No. 977 is a vintage English steel dip pen nib with a rounded, upturned writing tip. Originally designed for carbon-copy writing, its rigid construction produces relatively consistent strokes and is suitable for everyday handwriting.
