Compagnie Française des Plumes, Porte-Plumes et Crayons was a French manufacturer associated with Paris and Boulogne-sur-Mer. It was one of the principal companies in Boulogne’s steel pen industry and became particularly well known for its Sergent-Major nibs. Its range included pointed writing nibs and broad-edged lettering designs. Surviving packaging features elaborate illustrations, exhibition medals and historical scenes, reflecting the distinctive presentation of French writing materials of the period.

The Compagnie Française no.6 is a broad-edged lettering nib. Its flat writing edge creates contrasting thick and thin strokes according to the direction of writing.
